An important illustrated monthly founded by William Evans Burton, devoted to fine arts, poetry, romances and reviews, known for its ‘raciness, humor, tact and taste.’ It was co-edited by Edgar Allan Poe from July 1839 to May 1840 and contains many first printings of his works in volumes 4 – 7, his “Journal of Julius Rodman” (Wagner – Camp 82) is contained in volume 6. The issue for December 1840 (v. 7 no. 6) has similar contents to “Casket” (176) and is first issue as “Graham’s Magazine” (404). |
