“The most delightful” and “the most brilliant and most original” of the chapbook type magazines, often with tongue-in-cheek contents, including editor Gellett Burgess’ “The Purple Cow”. It is printed on very frail paper and fairly commonly located, frequently in publisher’s bindings. This is a presentation copy of Burgess to prominent contributor Carolyn Wells. Wilston writes that Burgess rarely inscribed his work, and this copy, presented to one of the most important contributors, is of special association. |
