Date: | September 1869 |
Published in: | New York, NY |
A weekly edited by Mr. Parker Peabody and Mrs. Elizabeth Cady Stanton, with Susan B. Anthony as the proprietor, manager, and responsible financial head. It contained detailed reports of the various woman-suffrage gatherings, correspondence from home and abroad telling of the progress of the cause of women’s rights, and some literary ’cause’ miscellany. According to Mott ‘it was less concerned with developing a connected and consistent philosophy of woman’s place in the world then it was with presenting the news of active reform movement and calling unsympathetic critics to account.’ |
