John Plumbe Jr was America’s pioneer photographer, the first to capture images of many famous personalities (Poe, Irving, Polk, Adams) and architectural landmarks (White House, U.S. Capitol).
This is a very rare (the only other at AAS) complete run of the weekly magazine that features four “plumbeotypes”, lithographic reproductions of this Daguerrrian images, the first photographic images published in an American periodical. Lacking the one monthly new series issue. Kribbs 714. |
