This volume is primarily devoted to the legal controversy between Edward Livingston and Thomas Jefferson. It contains “The Proceedings of the Government of the United States in Maintaining the Public Right to the Beach of the Missisipi [sic], adjacent to new-Orleans Against the Intrusion of Edward Livingston” prepared and with additional notes by the Author. The three maps used to illustrate the case are present. This is one of very few original Jefferson appearances in an American periodical. Rare, valuable and important.
