|This volume is primarily devoted to the legal controversy between Edward Livingston and Thomas Jefferson. It contains “The Proceedings of the Government of the United States in Maintaining the Public Right to the Beach of the Missisipi [sic], adjacent to new-Orleans Against the Intrusion of Edward Livingston” prepared and with additional notes by the Author. The three maps used to illustrate the case are present. This is one of very few original Jefferson appearances in an American periodical. Rare, valuable and important.|
I just acquired this exact same ALJ v5 (1814). Contains Jefferson’s proceedings along with Livingston’s answer 299pp. This is an original from my father-in-law’s estate. Half calf marbled boards. Mine does not have maps but paperwork with it states that of seven copies located, only two had maps so no loss in value. Out of my family member’s collection, I also have the Report of the Supreme Court Decision in the case of Dred Scott vs Sandford, 1857 Washington printing. I’m not in familiar territory in terms of how/where to liquidate. Any information would be great. I also have several handwritten John A Washington letters, some delivered by slave Kinloch from Mt. Vernon, 1791 written Indenture btwn William A Washington and Thomas Ringgold, a March 16, 1864 three- page handwritten letter from Alexander Stephens to Barnett Cohen, handwritten 1779 Archibald Campbell address to Congress, a 11/16/1802 handwritten power of attorney signed by Hitchborn, Dexter, Hull Morton, and Payne that binds them to any compromise any of them make to cede Georgia lands to US. And a ton of pamphlets dating to 1717. I just received this as part of an estate. There are a lot of books as well. Any advice/help is very appreciated as I’m kind of shooting in the dark. I had ABA book buyers from Atlanta come to my house yesterday and offer me $1000 for everything. I have probably 20-30 items worth more than that alone…grateful in advance for your time and consideration.
