A miscellaneous and literary magazine, founded and edited by Henry William Herbert, whose pseudonym was Frank Forester, as a rival to, and as a direct result of the rejection of his manuscripts submitted to the “Knickerbocker” (290). It was later edited by Park Benjamin and Charles Fenno Hoffman, who included articles on the American West.
