Volume: | 1 |
Issue: | 3 |
Date: | September 1845 |
Published in: | New York, NY |
A very rare literary magazine edited by Thomas Dunn English, containing original contributions by Walt Whitman and Edgar Allan Poe. Heartmann and Canny, p. 103, refer to a review of Poe’s “Tales,” perhaps written by Poe himself, in the October issue, but it appears here. A handwritten annotation in the index attributes the entire section of reviews to Poe. The prospectus for the new series, to have begun in January 1846, is on the rear wrapper, and notes an alliance to ‘principles and policies of the Democratic party.’ Not in Robertson. |
This is a gorgeous copy, Steven! I’ve never seen the original before! Best, Richard
