A widely circulated and important general and literary magazine, containing contributions by many prominent authors, including the first appearance in any form of Mark Twain’s “Huckleberry Finn (N 1884 – Mr 1885). Started as Scribner’s Monthly (785) it changed its title in November 1881 due to a management dispute, though the volume numbers are continuous and the content did not change significantly, except to take on more illustration. This is the first issue of the new title.|
