A rare Confederate imprint, published on Turnwold Plantation by J. A. Turner. Aside from a 45 word nonfiction letter to the editor in the previous issue, the story in this issue, entitled ‘Grumblers’, is the first appearance of Joel Chandler Harris, his earliest published literary work. Harris’ experiences on Turnwold Plantation were the inspiration for his “Uncle Remus”.
