All published. The rare (never over 300 copies issued), quarterly ‘crown jewel’ of transcendentalist publications, subtitled “a magazine for literature, philosophy, and religion”. It was first edited by Margaret Fuller, then by Ralph Waldo Emerson, and contains first printings of many of their most important works. Thoreau’s literary efforts began here. his first appearance is in the first issue. he contributed to it thirty-one times, and was editor pro tempore of the July 1843 issue. A highly important and collectible magazine. Earlier wrappers are light green. It was reprinted 1901 – 02. |
