An early and important music oriented journal edited by John Dingley, illustrated with fine engravings, including one of Gilbert Stuart. A journal of similar title was published in Boston in 1820 – 1823. These two are the only really significant precursors to “Dwight’s Journal of Music” (581), considered the most important American musical periodical. |
