A weekly political paper, edited and published by Horace Greeley, founded in response to the results of the 1838 presidential election, in support of the gubernatorial candidacy of William Seward. Much of the content is devoted to reprinted speeches and news. It was intentionally ‘cheap’ to achieve the widest circulation in spreading both state and national political intelligence. |
