A monthly literary magazine edited by William W. Snowden as ‘a New York imitator of the Philadelphian “Godey’s” (459) and “Graham’s” (404)’. It contained literary miscellany and boasted to be the first to issue a magazine with all new plates. October 1842 contains the first printing of Poe’s “The Landscape Garden”; November-December 1842 and February 1843 feature his “The Mystery of Marie Roget”, the second published detective story. |
