A typical ‘cheap’ forties woman’s periodical. In early numbers, it called itself a newspaper for ‘postal reasons.’ While inferior to “Godey’s” (459), “Leslie’s” (626), and “Peterson’s” (425) due to careless coloring of engravings and haphazard content selection, it included poems, tales, ‘much excellent advice to females and no little advocacy of female education.’
