The three earliest issues located of the the preeminent ladies magazine. Founded by Louisa Knapp (Mrs. Cyrus Curtis), it began as an unpretentious supplement to a farm family paper. It soon expanded, under the wing of Curtis Publishing and editor Edward Bok, into an influential monthly journal, containing the best American fiction, intimate personality sketches and fine illustrations by, among others, Maxfield Parrish and Norman Rockwell. |
