The Steven Lomazow Collection of American Periodicals
One of the largest periodical collection of all time. The Steven Lomazow Collection consists of almost 30 thousand issues dating back to the early 1700's. A finer collection of periodical artwork you can't find any where else.
Not exactly a “fetish”, but a fad in the Summer of 1936 for inventing hand gestures as a form of charades. See Lara Weber (June 9, 2017) “What did you say? Hand gesture game was all the rage in 1936.” The Chicago Tribune.
An odd cover for what seems an odd magazine – thanks for the display.
Philsp.com’s index for Silk Stocking Stories notes:
It is believed that the first issue was an unrelated title called Movie Stars Handies. This was succeeded by Movie Stars Handies Silk Stocking Revue (more commonly known as Silk Stocking Revue) which also ran for a single issue. The magazine was then renamed Silk Stocking Stories as which it ran for a further 30 issues.
Silk Stocking Stories was published by Ultem and ran at least a little fiction but mostly mostly wholesome photo spreads of leggy models in hosiery and is typical of the titles that followed the girlie pulps and featured covers by Caldwell Higgins, Peter Driben, and George Quintana.
