A weekly miscellany, edited by the former editors of “Brother Jonathan” (428), Parl Benjamin and Rufus Griswold, as well as Greeley’s partner, Jonas Wincester. It was subtitled “A Weekly Journal of Popular Literature, Science, Music and the Arts, Containing the Latest Works by Distinguished Authors, Sermons by Eminent Divines, Original and Selected Tales and Poetry &c.”, and contained mostly reprinted literature, with notable exceptions. It was also published in a ‘mammoth’ edition. |
