First a weekly, then monthly humor magazine, which was well illustrated by, among others, Thomas Nast, containing much humor of a racial nature. This issue contains a previously unrecorded contribution by Mark Twain, entitled “On Female Suffrage.” Despite a long run and claims of a large circulation, individual issues are very scarce.
