A weekly miscellany in newspaper format published by Atkinson and Alexander, who also published “Casket” (176), which frequently reprinted its contents. In the late 1830’s, it was nurtured and edited by George Graham and Charles Peterson, neither of whom were later successful in their own magazine ventures. Despite the later marketing prowess of Cyrus Curtis, this magazine bears no direct relationship to Benjamin Franklin’s “Pennsylvania Gazette”. This issue contains an early printing of the “Star Spangled Banner.” See (1083).
