I have the whole set of Show Business Illustrated, are you interested?
There were only 12 issues, starting September 1961 and ending April 1962, when Hugh Hefner finally realized it just was not selling well. The cover format was changed twice — from “Show Business Illustrated” to the more esoteric “SBI” — but it didn’t help matters much. The subscribers (myself included) started receiving a larger, more glossy magazine called “SHOW” that was already in existence, and although there was a magnificent close up of Natalie Wood’s face on the cover of the first issue I received, “SHOW” didn’t have the same Playboy-type tone as “SBI” and I didn’t renew my subscription,
Hi Lisa,
I would like to ask you a question I have 12 issues from 1961 to 1962 how many years did the “Show Business Illustrated” was published. If you would please let me know.
Anthony
Hello Anthony,
You probably know by now that only 12 issues of Show Business Illustrated were published, so you have them all.
I was wondering if you would be willing to look through your collection to find a cartoon by B. Kliban that may be published there (probably in either the March or April 1962 issue). Many fans of Kliban are searching to find out which issue it appears in.
If you be willing to do this, I can email you an image of the cartoon — it’s very unique and would be easy to spot.
Thank you so much!
Bruce
