A unique copy of this monthly musical magazine. The entire volume was intended to contain 192 pages, including 50 pages of music. The second issue is obviously a later incarnation of the previous rare monthly, this issue supercedes any in ULS. The 1844 issue explains on it’s rear: “The Singer was commenced almost 3 years since, and was intended to furnish such matter as would be interesting in awakening an interest in the subject of music in our common schools. But, as the author removed soon after its commencement to a distant city, it had in consequence a limited circulation in New England.” |
