A very scarce illustrated monthly “published for the Indians of the Indian Territory and Oklahoma” by Ora V. Eddleman. |
My name is Elizabeth (Betty) Reed Groth. I am the daughter of David Eddleman Reed, son of Ora Veralyn Eddleman Reed editor and proprietor of Twin Territories magazine. In 1996, the Oklahoma Historical Society contacted my uncle (Roy S. Reed) offering to microfilm the two volumes of Twin Territories Roy had bound together. Roy had given the two volumes to me and my husband as we had done a great deal of genealogy.
He asked us if giving the volumes to OHS would be okay with us. We said yes, that is where they should be and we would be able to see them via microfilm.
So, I have a second letter from the director of the OHS (William D. Welge) dated March 12, 1996 thanking Uncle Roy for donating the two volumes to the OHC. He also says “We will microfilm the volumes sometime this spring”.
I have looked many times on the OHC website and there is no reverence to the Twin Territories volumes or microfilm.
So my question is, would you consider selling the volume of Twin Territories you have to me? I can send you copies of these OHC letters. Also, writer Alexia Kosmider published an article in the “Literature and Psychology” publication (Vol. XXXXI No. 4, 1995), She would confirm that we gave her access to the two volumes we had then. Her article is titled “What the Curious Want to Know’: Cherokee Writer, Ora Eddleman Reed Writes Back to the Empire”.
Let me know if you have any questions and thank you for your consideration.
I hope they will get published one day. Would love to see them
