Title: | Worcester Magazine |
Category: | 18th Century, Americana, Constitution |
Volume: | 3 |
Issue: | 26 |
Date: | September 1787 |
Published in: | Worcester, MA |
The last four pages of the issue (348 – 352) are devoted to a printing of the Federal Constitution. This is one of four contemporary printings of the U.S. Constitution located in an American magazine. The priority of this printing is uncertain but it probably precedes those in Columbian or American Museum. The rear wrapper is not present and this copy appears to be disbound from a volume. Scarce, especially so in wrappers. This title is the continuation of Isaiah Thomas’ newspaper, Massachusetts Spy, which he suspended in protest of postal rates. |
