|After The North Star and Frederick Douglass’ paper, the third and last journalistic venture of Douglass. Extremely rare. This issue has an interesting provenance, being a presentation copy of Miss Laura Putnam to the Groton Historical Society. An original poem of her father, George W. Putnam, entitled “The Sacrifice” appears on the last page. For a detailed history see: Daniel, Walter C., Black Journals of the United States, Greenwood Press. p 152-158.|
