This is one of the earliest issues published utilizing Cyrus Curtis’s very successful marketing ploy of a “new heritage” falsely linked to Benamin Franklin, which began with the January 29, 1898 issue. From this time on, under the editorship of George Horace Loimer, the “Post” rapidly became one of the most widely circulated and influential Amerian magazines. The cover art of this issue is by F.X. Leyendecker, a frequent contributor. His brother, J. C., was one of the “Post’s” leading cover artists through the 1940’s. |
